Crystal D. Evans has been published in the debut zine from Writing In Progress Margate, 001 Spring Issue, with her poem Albion’s Lullaby opening the collection. The launch marked the collective’s first anniversary—an intimate, energised evening celebrating a year of monthly gatherings and live literature.
Held at Off Licence, where the group meets every second Wednesday, the event brought together a full roster of local writers for what the collective describes as a creative writing performance night. Alongside the zine launch, Evans performed four new poems—Drown Out the Noise, She Who Breathes Fire and Ice, Hangxiety, and, by special invitation from co-founder Ali, First Beat—written especially for the occasion.
The evening affirmed Writing In Progress Margate’s growing presence in the local arts scene: a warm, open platform for voices in development, experimentation, and performance. For copies of their zine, or for more information, contact @writinginprogress.margate

What Remains by Crystal D. Evans is an intimate dialogue between image and word, a meditation on presence and absence, memory and perception. This limited edition signed collection of her black and white photographs, overlaid with her original poetry, captures the fleeting, the forgotten, and the unspoken. Light and shadow, form and emptiness; each composition distils the essence of a moment before it slips away. As seen during the Venice Biennale 2025.
