SOLO SHOW AT ROSEBERRY ROAD STUDIOS

Solo Exhibition: What Remains by Crystal D. Evans at Roseberry Road Studios, Bath

"Rosebery Road Studios in Bath is proud to present What Remains, a solo exhibition by multidisciplinary artist Crystal D. Evans, running from 17th–30th November 2025. Curated by Artistic Director Louise Rushford, the exhibition brings together photography, sculpture, film, and original text by Crystal D. Evans in a powerful meditation on memory, disintegration, and the enduring presence of the human body and spirit.

Crystal D. Evans’ practice draws from phenomenology, material narrative, and poetic inquiry. What Remains continues this exploration, offering works that navigate the fragmented traces we leave behind—what is lost, what lingers, and what we carry forward. The exhibition includes pieces from the artist’s acclaimed book of the same title, alongside new and previously unseen work.

The exhibition features a Private View on Thursday 20th November, offering visitors an early opportunity to engage with the work in an intimate setting with the artist present. Later in the run, audiences are invited to a Q&A and Poetry Evening with Artist Book Signing on Thursday 27th November, where the artist will share live readings and discuss the conceptual frameworks that inform the show.

Critics have described What Remains as “a profound, timely, and viscerally sensorial experience that confronts the complexities of identity, grief, and embodiment in today’s fractured world—inviting reflection not only on what is seen, but on what remains unseen: beneath surfaces, between words, and within us."

What Remains promises to be a moving and thought-provoking exhibition, situated within one of Bath’s most distinctive artist-led spaces.

Further information, including accessibility and visiting hours, will be available via Rosebery Road Studios and the artist’s website."

FEATURED ARTIST AT Barcelona Contemporary Art Fair 2025

Barcelona Contemporary Art Fair 2025 - Featured Artist Review

In July 2025, I was honoured to be a featured artist at the prestigious Barcelona Contemporary Art Fair, curated by world-renowned Italian architect, art curator, and designer Luca Curci, and hosted at HUB/ART Barcelona. Renowned for its commitment to showcasing cutting-edge contemporary art, the fair brought together leading international voices in painting, sculpture, photography, installation, video art, and live performance. It was a dynamic meeting point for both established and emerging artists, and a significant opportunity to deepen my connections within Barcelona’s vibrant cultural landscape.

ITSLIQUID GROUP, in their post-show review, described my practice as weaving together photography, sculpture, painting, illustration, video, sound, and poetry to explore “the fluid terrain of identity, memory, and perception.” Rooted in phenomenology, my work embraces “fragmentation, distortion, and imperfection as essential components of meaning-making,” often incorporating unresolved forms and unexpected juxtapositions to reflect the non-linear, fragile nature of lived experience. My aim, they note, is to create “emotionally resonant works that linger in the viewer’s body and consciousness – opening pathways for connection, disruption, and transformation.”

Luca Curci, founder and CEO of ITSLIQUID GROUP, offered a personal reflection on my work:

"Crystal Evans is a deeply refined and visionary artist whose photographic practice reveals an extraordinary sensitivity to both place and displacement. Her work exists in a delicate balance between the tangible and the immaterial, capturing what is seen, and what is deeply felt. As a synesthetic artist, her experimental use of colour transcends the visual to evoke atmosphere, memory, and emotion, creating immersive experiences that speak directly to the senses.
Her visual language is rich with poetic nuance, and each composition seems to open a portal between inner and outer worlds. I was personally struck by the layered complexity and subtle power of her images, which reveal a profound connection to space, time, and identity.
Crystal’s presence in our exhibitions, from Venice during the Biennale to Barcelona and soon Rome, has enriched the curatorial narrative of each show. She is a true contemporary voice, whose art resonates internationally with curators, collectors, and audiences alike."

The Barcelona Contemporary Art Fair was both an inspiring and affirming experience – a space where dialogue, experimentation, and cultural exchange flourished. I look forward to carrying this momentum forward into future international projects, including my forthcoming feature at the Rome International Art Fair in September.

FEATURED ARTIST AT BORDERS ART FAIR VENICE 2025

Evans at HYBRID IDENTITIES, Borders Art Fair 2025 during 19th Venice Biennale of Architecture

Crystal D. Evans, renowned for her poignant photo-poetry collection What Remains, will showcase her work at the upcoming HYBRID IDENTITIES exhibition, the first appointment of BORDERS ART FAIR 2025. Organized by the ITSLIQUID Group in collaboration with ACIT Venice – Italian-German Cultural Association, the event will take place at the historic Palazzo Albrizzi-Capello in Venice from May 23 to June 6, during the 19th Venice Biennale of Architecture.

The BORDERS ART FAIR 2025 offers artists the unique opportunity to present their works to an international audience of curators, gallerists, collectors, and art enthusiasts. This year’s edition will continue to explore the concept of 'borders'—both physical and metaphorical—examining the limits that shape human existence and how these are being reimagined in contemporary society. Themes include the intersection between body and soul, human and urban spaces, and the evolving ways we define and navigate boundaries in a rapidly changing world.

As part of HYBRID IDENTITIES, Evans will present three powerful photo-poems from her What Remains collection, which has garnered international acclaim for its intimate exploration of human experience through visual poetry.

The selected works for this exhibition include:

  • Held by Many: A meditation on trans rights, solidarity, and the ache of isolation.
  • Keeper of Light: A response to the social climate in America, invoking reflection on what must never be forgotten.
  • Devotion: A profound exploration of guardianship, parental legacy, and the enduring cycle of care passed down through generations.

Evans describes the opportunity to present these works in Venice as both an honour and a call to engage in timely conversations about identity and art. "Participating in HYBRID IDENTITIES at the BORDERS ART FAIR is especially meaningful given the exhibition’s focus on human connections and the way we navigate our inner and outer worlds," she shared.

The 2025 edition of BORDERS follows the success of the 2023 event, which featured over 500 artworks from 250 artists representing 40 countries. This year’s exhibition aims to challenge preconceived notions of identity and space, presenting works that embody resilience, transformation, and the ongoing quest for belonging.

Crystal D. Evans invites visitors to engage with her pieces as part of this transformative exhibition, which promises to be a highlight of the Venice Biennale of Architecture.

FEATURED ARTIST AT INTERNATIONAL ART EXHIBITION VENICE 2025

Crystal D. Evans Selected for Prestigious MORPHOS – TEMPORARY IDENTITIES 2025 Exhibition in Venice

Artist and photographer Crystal D. Evans has been selected to exhibit at the internationally acclaimed MORPHOS – TEMPORARY IDENTITIES 2025, part of the Venice International Art Fair, taking place from April 24 to May 9, 2025 at the historic Palazzo Albrizzi-Capello in Venice, Italy.

Organised by ITSLIQUID Group, in collaboration with ACIT Venice – Italian-German Cultural Association, the exhibition brings together a global community of artists exploring the fluid and evolving nature of identity in the contemporary world. Set within one of the most iconic Renaissance palaces in Venice, MORPHOS invites artists to reflect on the human body as a dynamic system of communication—expanding boundaries and redefining the connections between personal and collective identities.

Evans will present three framed photographic works titled 'Pause', 'The Shape of Us', and 'What Remains' that engage with themes of memory, belonging, and the relationship between environment and self. Her practice—deeply rooted in phenomenology and poetic narrative—resonates with the exhibition’s vision of identity and environment evolving together.

Reflecting on Evans' contribution, curator Amaride Ferrante commented:

“Crystal D. Evans' work is profoundly evocative: each piece resonates with emotional and philosophical depth. I truly admire how she weaves together visual storytelling with poetry to explore themes like memory, movement, and human resilience. The balance between stillness and transformation is incredibly moving, and her ability to express the silent echoes of identity, labor, and presence within physical and metaphorical spaces is powerful. These works don’t just invite reflection, they demand it. Congratulations are due to her on creating such a rich, layered, and emotionally intelligent body of work.”

With a focus on interdisciplinary and multisensory exploration, MORPHOS – TEMPORARY IDENTITIES features a broad range of media, from painting and sculpture to video, installation, and live performance. The exhibition offers a platform for innovative artistic research and provides a space for critical dialogue around the body, place, and transformation.

This selection marks a significant milestone in Evans’s creative journey, reflecting her growing presence on the international art scene. Her participation in MORPHOS is not only a celebration of artistic achievement but also an invitation to engage in wider cultural discourse within one of the world’s most iconic art cities.

WHAT REMAINS - A BOOK OF COLLECTED WORKS out now

Hardback Book Out Now: 'What Remains'

Crystal Evans' highly anticipated hardcover book, What Remains, is a striking fusion of black and white photography and poetry. This collection delves into themes of perception, memory, belonging, narrative, and stoicism, framed through the lens of phenomenology.

Evans’ work invites readers to engage with the traces we leave behind—both tangible and intangible. Through evocative imagery and poetic reflection, What Remains explores the liminal spaces between presence and absence, asking us to consider what is seen, what is felt, and what lingers.

What Remains by Crystal D. Evans is an intimate dialogue between image and word, a meditation on presence and absence, memory and perception. This collection of her black and white photographs, overlaid with her poetry, captures the fleeting, the forgotten, and the unspoken. Light and shadow, form and emptiness—each composition is an attempt to distil the essence of a moment before it slips away.

This deeply personal and thought-provoking book is available now for sale here.

WHAT REMAINS - solo show

What Remains: A Solo Exhibition by Crystal D. Evans

The Herbert Read Gallery presents What Remains, a solo exhibition of Crystal Evans' latest body of work, exploring themes of memory, loss, and human fragility through a phenomenological and stoic lens. Bringing together black and white photography, poetry, and sculpture, the exhibition examines the remnants we leave behind—both tangible and intangible—and how they shape our perception of existence.

At the heart of What Remains is an enquiry into the way we experience and process traces of the past. Her phenomenological perspective invites viewers to engage with the work through sensory and emotional perception, emphasising how memory and materiality interact. Meanwhile, her stoic philosophical lens underlines the inevitability of impermanence, reflecting on themes of detachment, resilience, and acceptance.

Through stark contrasts, fragmented forms, and poetic reflections, What Remains creates a dialogue between presence and absence, wholeness and fracture. The exhibition is an intimate meditation on what lingers after time, trauma, and transformation, offering a contemplative space for viewers to reflect on their own encounters with impermanence.

UNITED NATIONS' Climate Change CONFERENCE IN BAKU

Crystal Evans’ Video Art and Poetry Shine on the Global Stage at COP29

Acclaimed artist Crystal Evans has reached a new milestone in her career as her video art and poetry were showcased at the 29th session of the Conference of the Parties to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP29) in Baku. Her work, In Solidarity, was specifically commissioned for this prestigious event after a senior COP29 delegate discovered her earlier piece, Courage, online. Struck by the emotional power and relevance of her art, the delegate personally reached out to Evans, inviting her to create a video art piece that would inspire and resonate with delegates from across the globe.

Blending found footage, original poetry, and evocative soundscapes, In Solidarity explores themes of unity and shared responsibility in the fight against climate change. Paired with Courage, both pieces demonstrate Evans’ profound ability to transform pressing global issues into deeply moving and thought-provoking art. These films captivated the international audience of United Nations delegates, creating a moment of reflection during the high-stakes conference.

Crystal Evans’ Courage and In Solidarity are now available to watch on YouTube. However, permission to exhibit her video art publicly must be obtained in writing directly from the artist.

This extraordinary opportunity not only highlights the global relevance of Evans’ work but also celebrates her ability to bring art and activism together on one of the world’s most critical stages.
